Cincinnati Film Festival coming Oct. 3-11

        The Cincinnati International Film Festival will return for its second year Oct. 3-11 with screenings of 30 features and short films at the Esquire in Clifton and 20th Century in Oakley.

        The fest, which named restaurateur Jeff Ruby as honorary chair, will open with a reception Oct. 3 at the 20th Century and close with a gala Oct. 11 at the Hilton Netherland Plaza Hotel downtown. The closing gala will include a “Spirit of Cincinnati” salute to one of Cincinnati's greatest actors, the late Tyrone Power. At press time, ticket prices were not set.

        The fest announced it will show ivansxtc, Bernard Rose's modern version of Tolstoy's The Death of Ivan Ilyich; Lily Chou Chou, a Japanese teen-angst drama from Shunji Iwai; and Adrift, a documentary about filmmaker Tom Curran's life and family.

        Festival organizer Terry Alvarado said a complete schedule will be released Friday.
