Milacron finishes sale of two overseas units
By The Cincinnati Enquirer
Milacron Inc. said Friday that it completed the sale of its overseas metal-cutting operations, the second step in its move to exit the business and concentrate on plastic technologies and industrial fluids.
Milacron said it sold its Widia and Werko units to Kennametal Inc. in Latrobe, Pa., for about $184 million in cash, subject to post-closing adjustments. Widia, a maker of carbide inserts based in Essen, Germany, and Werko, a maker of round tools in Konigsee, Germany, employ about 3,400 and had combined sales of $240 million.
The agreement was announced in May. On Aug. 9, Milacron completed the sale of Valenite, its North American metal-cutting tool business, to Sandvik, based in Sweden, for $175 million in cash. Milacron has said it plans to use most of the proceeds to reduce debt.
