Suspect charged in Saturday shooting
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP - Police arrested a Springfield Township man they say shot another man in his Ovid Avenue home early Saturday.
Timothy Grant, 37, whose address was listed on Tanbark Court, was charged with felonious assault and attempted murder for firing numerous times at Phillip Billingsley, according to court documents.
Mr. Billingsley, 51, was hit twice in the head and once in the torso. He was listed in serious condition Saturday night at University Hospital.
Mr. Grant has a history of contact with police dating back to at least 1989, court records show, with convictions for falsification and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He also was charged Saturday with criminal damaging for an Aug. 21 incident in which a woman said he broke a window trying to get into her Desoto Avenue house in Springfield Township.
