Charged Cleveland teen shot by police
The Associated Press
CLEVELAND - A 16-year-old boy who led police on a car chase has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his friend, who was shot by officers after the pursuit.
Malcolm Hoyle of Cleveland, also shot by officers, was in stable condition Saturday at MetroHealth Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said.
The shooting occurred at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday after police chased the car into an alley and Mr. Hoyle backed the car toward them, pinning an officer between his cruiser and a fence, police said.
Passenger Ricardo Mason, 16, died of a gunshot wound to the back.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors said Mr. Hoyle was charged because his actions led to Mason's death.
