Fisherman missing in river
A Cleves man was missing Sunday night after he waded into the Great Miami River to fish and was swept away while his friends watched.
David Medecke, 47, was last seen about 5:30 p.m. struggling in the water 20 feet from the shore near where the Great Miami and the White Water rivers join. His friends had told him to return to shore, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's dive team, Task Force One, had not found Mr. Medecke's body by nightfall.
