Throughout the Tristate, bells will toll, taps will sound, and fire horns and sirens will wail on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Here are some of the events; all are open to the public, and most are free.

        Cincinnati

        Downtown: The Peace Committee of the Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center will sponsor a “Time of Peace” from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Fountain Square. Information: Sister Alice Gerdeman, 579-8547.

        A panel presentation, “Our Lives Forever Changed: Reflections a Year After 9-11,” is at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the nave at Christ Church Cathedral, 318 E. Fourth St. Among the panelists: Eileen Cooper Reed, state chair, National Children's Defense Fund; state Sen. Mark Mallory; the Most Rev. Daniel E. Pilarczyk, archbishop of Cincinnati.

        The Cincinnati Fire Museum, 315 W. Court St., will offer free admission Tuesday through Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors are invited to sign the Book of Remembrance, which will be sent to the New York City Fire Museum. Information: 621-5553.

        At 10:05 a.m. Wednesday, local firefighters will pull their trucks out in front of their stations, stand at attention and sound the air horns. A minute of silence will be observed. At the Firefighters Memorial at Sixth Street and Central Avenue, a 30-minute ceremony begins at 10 a.m. It includes a reading of the names of the 343 firefighters killed in New York City, a ceremonial ringing of bells and an address from Cincinnati Fire Chief Robert Wright.

        At 7:30 p.m., hundreds of area firefighters, a fire engine and a riderless horse will march from Northern Kentucky Convention Center to Fountain Square for an 8:30 p.m. ceremony.

        All three museums at the Cincinnati Museum Center, 1301 Western Ave., will offer free admission Wednesday. A one-hour ceremony at the center begins at 10 a.m.

        The Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau will distribute red, white and blue ribbons throughout the day Wednesday at the Visitors Center at Fifth Third Center on Fountain Square.

        A reflective program is 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Reading Garden Lounge at the main branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, 800 Vine St.

        “The Longest Day: Ohio Journalists at Ground Zero,” an exhibit of on-the-scene coverage of Sept. 11 sponsored by the library in cooperation with the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists, will be on display Wednesday through Sept. 30 at the Main Library, 800 Vine St.

        Clifton: An All-Night Vigil will take place at the University of Cincinnati's Hillel Jewish Student Center, 3101 Clifton Ave., beginning at 11 p.m. Tuesday.

        The vigil will end at 8:46 a.m. Information: Rabbi Abie Ingber, 576-1312.

        Evanston: Xavier University students, faculty, staff and neighbors are invited to a community conversation at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Gallagher Student Center theater. The program will conclude with a silent candlelight procession beginning at 9 p.m. Overnight, a group of Xavier students will participate in “Night Watch” a vigil at the Hillel Jewish Student Center that will end at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday. At 4 p.m. Wednesday, an interfaith prayer service will be held in Bellarmine Chapel. Information: 745-3567.

        Mount Washington: The “Prayer before the Cross in Commemoration of the Tragic Events of September 11” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great at the Athenaeum of Ohio, 6616 Beechmont Ave.

        University Heights: The University of Cincinnati Campus Ministries Association will sponsor a Clifton Avenue Interfaith Walk for Peace at 10 a.m. Wednesdayat 3668 Clifton Ave. Information: 861-2929.

        Westwood: Catholic Social Services will offer a free workshop, “Sept. 11 — One Year Later,” 7:30-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy HealthPlex Holistic, 3131 Queen City Ave.

Hamilton County

        Anderson Township: “We Will Remember,” sponsored by American Legion Post 318, is noon Wednesday at Veterans Park on Forest Road. Information: 474-3046.

        Blue Ash: Sycamore Senior Center, 4455 Carver Woods Drive, will dedicate Freedom Point at 4 p.m. Wednesday. A brief ceremony will include a reflection on “The Heroes of 9-11.” Information: 984-1234.

        Cleves: A parade will begin at 2 p.m. Sept. 15 and march through Cleves to Cleves Community Park for a patriotic memorial ceremony. Buses will be provided to take marchers to the parade staging area near Harmony Field.

        Deer Park: “9-11 ... We Remember,” a community candlelight service, is 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Temple, 8501 Plainfield Road. Information: 891-2221.

        Delhi Township: The public is welcome to attend a campuswide prayer service at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the College Quad at the College of Mount St. Joseph, 5701 Delhi Road.

        Evendale: The Cincinnati Nature Center will waive admission fees to Rowe Woods on Tealtown Road in Milford and Gorman Heritage Farm, 3035 Gorman Heritage Farm Lane in Evendale, Wednesday through Sunday. Information: 831-1711.

        Glendale: A free concert, “Music Live With Lunch,” will begin at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Church Glendale, 965 Forest Ave. A prayer service is at 7 p.m. Information: 771-1544.

        Harrison: Area churches will sponsor a service to honor local firefighters, police, paramedics and the military, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Performance Arts Center of Harrison High School, 9860 West Road. Information: 367-1240.

        Loveland: A “September 11 Remembrance” will begin with a procession of safety personnel at 9 a.m. at the Castle Skateland, 980 Loveland-Madeira Road, ending at the Loveland Firefighters Memorial in Nisbet Park. Information: 677-7000.

        Loveland: An opening reception for “Women Artists for Peace” will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Grailville, 932 O'Bannonville Road.

        Norwood: Fire apparatus will be assembled in front of the fire station at 9:45 a.m. to “Remember Sept. 11, 2001.” The ceremony includes ringing of the bell at 10:05 a.m. and recognition of the 343 New York firefighters. Information: 458-4550. Also, Norwood churches will join for a community remembrance at noon Wednesday at Norwood First United Methodist Church, 2100 Elm St.

        Reading: “In Remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001 — Prayer for Healing and Peace” will begin with a community memorial service sponsored by the American Legion Color Guard at Reading City Hall at 6:30 p.m. Participants will march to Ss. Peter and Paul Church for an interdenominational prayer service. Information: 554-1010.

        Sharonville: Candlelight vigil to honor victims of the 9-11 attacks and military personnel who have died in the battle against terrorism will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Patriot Pointe on Thornview Drive.

        Sharonville: Heritage Village Museum at Sharon Woods Park, 11450 Lebanon Road, will offer free admission to all guests during normal business hours of noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Warren County

        Mason: A series of events at Hope Church, 4934 Western Row Road, will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday with the opening of “We Remember,” a display of more than 3,000 flags that will be open until 10 p.m. Wednesday.

        A candlelight vigil is 9 p.m. Tuesday. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, a Remembrance Service will be held. Information: 459-0800 or www.hope-church.org.

        Springboro: “Remember the Past, Celebrate the Future” will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday on the football field at Springboro High School, 1675 S. Main St. Information: (937) 748-3960.

Butler County

        Fairfield: Local firefighters and police officers will recite memorial readings in a ceremony that begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Village Green Park. Information: 867-5348.

        Hamilton: A short ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m. at the Butler County Law Enforcement Memorial on Hanover Street and then police and firefighters will join in a procession to theButler County Firefighter Memorial on Monument Avenue. A memorial service starts at 6:30 p.m.

        Middletown: “An Hour of Remembrance” will begin at noon Wednesday at the base of Casper Memorial Carillon on Donham Plaza. The program is sponsored by American Legion Posts 218 and 579, the city of Middletown and the faith community. Also, Miami University Middletown, 4200 E. University Blvd., will host a community memorial program at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Johnston Hall's Hawk Haven.

        Oxford: Oxford Presbyterian Church, 101 North Main St., will be the site of a gathering at 11:15 a.m. Sunday where people can make their own posters to be included in the Posters 4 Peace/ Peace Village project, a program in which more than 90 organizations have created more than 4,000 posters and discussions. The gathering will be followed by an interfaith ceremony at sunset opening the Peace Village project display near the Civil Rights Memorial at Western College for Women's Miami University campus.

        West Chester Township: A special prayer for peace and justice will be said 7-7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati, 8092 Plantation Drive. RSVP to 755-3280.

        Deerfield, Liberty and West Chester townships and the city of Mason will sponsor “Our Communities Remember,” a daylong series of events Wednesday. At 10:05 a.m., church bells will toll.

        At Voice of America Park, Tylersville and Cox roads, “Sing Out for Peace” will begin at 8 p.m. The West Chester Symphony, the Seven Hills Show Chorus and an ecumenical choir will perform. Information: 759-7301.

Clermont County

        New Richmond: A dedication of a memorial and flags recognizing local firefighting heroes is 6 p.m. Wednesday at the fire department on Market Street. At 7 p.m., the high school choir will present a program of patriotic music at the branch library, 212 Market St. At 8 p.m., the high school choral group and band will perform at the bandstand on Susanna Way. Northern Kentucky

        Boone County

        Florence: The Boone County Jaycees and city of Florence will hold a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Florence Government Center at 8100 Ewing Blvd.

        Florence Elks Lodge 314 is hosting a tribute for those who lost their lives, “We Remember You.” The tribute will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the lodge on 7704 Dixie Highway.

        Hebron: A memorial service will be held from 9:45-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hebron Fire Protection District Fire Station 1, 3120 North Bend Road.

        Campbell County

        Highland Heights: The Disabled American Veterans and Northern Kentucky University will host a memorial ceremony at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday on the central plaza of NKU's campus on Nunn Drive.

        Newport: Public agencies and groups from around Campbell County and Kentucky will participate in a memorial service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the World Peace Bell. The event is sponsored by the International Association Fire Chiefs.

        Kenton County

        Covington-Cincinnati: A twilight ceremony will be held at the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge at 8 p.m. Monday. A wreath will be dropped into the Ohio River as taps is played in remembrance of victims of global terrorism.

        Crescent Springs: A candlelight service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Crescent Spring Community Park.

        Erlanger: The cities of Erlanger, Elsmere and Point Pleasant will have a remembrance ceremony from 9:45-10:30 a.m. Wednesday in front of the Erlanger City Building at 505 Commonwealth Ave.

        Fort Wright: Volunteers from each neighborhood and the fire and emergency medical services department will place an American flag on the curb line in front of every home in the city beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

        Independence: A public memorial service will be held by the American Legion at 9 a.m. Wednesday in front of the Kenton County Courthouse, 5272 Madison Pike.

        Taylor Mill: A candlelight memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pride Park, 5614 Taylor Mill Road.

        Pendleton County

        Falmouth: The “Stars of Liberty Memorial Concert” will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin Centre Outdoors Theatre on U.S. 27 near the Pendleton County Fairgrounds. The show will be a musical and entertainment tribute to the spirit of American families and members of the armed forces. Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for senior citizens; $10 for veterans and rescue workers; $8 for students; and free for children under 6. Ticket revenue will go to the Sing for Liberty Foundation, established to unite an ecumenical devotion of God and country through music, entertainment and youth programs.

Other events

        Lazarus stores, with local members of America's Blood Centers, will conduct “A Gift From Your Heart.” Until Sept. 15, Lazarus will have cards in all stores for people to pledge to donate a pint of blood when local blood supplies are low. Donors will be contacted to arrange a time and place to donate.

        Convergys Corp. will open all its facilities during business hours Wednesday, for voter registration for employees and community members. The locations: Corporate headquarters in the Atrium at 201 E. Fourth St.; Convergys Center at 600 Vine St.; and the Contact Center at 4600 Montgomery Road in Norwood.

        Hoxworth Blood Center will host the following blood drives Wednesday:
       Hoxworth Anderson, 7715 Five Mile Road: Noon to 7:45 p.m.
       Hoxworth Blue Ash, 4310 Hunt Road: Noon to 7:45 p.m.
