Social services to offer help number
Early next year, there will be a new way for people in need of help to find it - by dialing 211.
The United Way, in conjunction with the Hamilton County's Department of Emergency Communications, will install the new phone system for people in need of social service help, whether it be a problem getting child support or information about how to get food stamps.
Operators answering the 211 calls will be trained to transfer calls to the 911 line if they are emergencies, and will keep statistics on the number of emergency calls transferred.
