Officials: Missing teen likely dead
By The Associated Press
WOOSTER, Ohio A 14-year-old girl who disappeared from the Wayne County fairgrounds is presumed dead and a rapist released from prison in March was jailed as a suspect, the sheriff said Saturday.
Joel D. Yockey, 46, of Wooster, was arrested Friday night on a parole violation, Wayne County Sheriff Tom Maurer said in a statement.
Mr. Yockey was released from prison after serving 15 years for the 1986 kidnap-rape of a 17-year-old girl in a field.
We presume Kristen Jackson to be dead, Sheriff Maurer said.
Sheriff Maurer did not specify why authorities felt the girl was dead. Sheriff Maurer said he was unable to release more details.
The search included FBI agents, volunteer firefighters, a State Highway Patrol helicopter and search dogs.
