Northern Kentucky's Pace Setter Schools

        Woodfill Elementary, Fort Thomas Independent

        Beechwood Independent Schools

Northern Kentucky's Assistance Level Schools

        Cline Elementary School (Level 1), Campbell Co.

        Latonia Elementary (Level 3), Covington Independent Schools

        James A. Caywood Elementary School (Level 1), Kenton Co.

        Taylor Mill Elementary School (Level 1), Kenton Co.

        Simon Kenton High School (Level 1), Kenton Co.

Regional Performance

        As a region, Region 4, which comprises 13 counties and includes Northern Kentucky, was a high performer on the Kentucky Core Content Test administered in April 2002. Region 4 scored highest in state in many categories and swept the state in math. Region 4 high school students consistently posted scores at the highest levels.

Reading

        Elementary, middle and high school students all scored second highest in the state. (Western Kentucky students in Region 2 are first in elementary and middle school levels, Bluegrass/Fayette County students in Region 5 are first in high school)

Math

        Elementary and high school students scored top in the state. Middle school students tied with Region 2 for best scores in state.

Science

        Elementary and middle school students scored second highest in the state, behind Region 2 students. High school students posted highest scores in state.

Social Studies

        Elementary school students were second in the state behind Region 2. Middle school students were tied for best in state with Region 2, and high school students were tops in state.

Writing

        Elementary school students scored the lowest in the state.

        Middle school students were tied with Region 2 and Region 7 (northeastern Kentucky) for second in state.

        High school students tied for first in state with Region 3 students, Louisville.

Arts & Humanities

        Elementary school students scored second in state to Region 2.

        Middle school students scored second in state to Region 2.

        High school students tied for first in state with Region 5.

Practical Living/Vocational Studies

        Elementary school students tied for second in state with Region 5 in the Bluegrass region. (Region 2 was first)

        Middle school students scored second in state to Region 2.

        High school scores were top in state.

Norm-Referenced Test

        Elementary school students tied with two Eastern Kentucky regions for third in state, scoring at about the state average for this test.

        Middle school students tied with Region 5 for second in state. (Region 2 was first).

        High school students scored best in the state.

Nonacademic Index

        Elementary schools tied with Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, Region 5 for first in state.

        Middle school tied with Region 1, Region 2, Region 7 for first.

        High schools tied with Region 1, Region 2 for first in state.
