GREENHILLS - Agents of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are investigating after 10 pipe bombs were found Thursday evening in a home at 19 Damon Road.
There were no injuries, but about 15 homes on the street were evacuated for several hours as a precaution as officials removed them. No suspects' names have been released and no charges filed.
Local authorities and federal agents responded to the home about 7:30 p.m. and discovered the devices. It was not known what prompted officials to go to the house.
Ten suspected pipe bombs were removed from the house, AFT Special Agent Chris Tardio said. We're looking at the house and trying to determine who may have manufactured them.
He couldn't comment on whether the bombs were linked to another pipe bomb found Wednesday in nearby Winton Woods.
No one at the house answered the door and shades covered the windows Friday afternoon.
Officials wouldn't share details of the bombs, but Agent Tardio said the devices could have been dangerous if they went off.
If they were to function as designed, they would fragment the pipe and function much like a hand grenade, he said.
