A Batavia man filed suit Tuesday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court against a Springdale woman accused of causing a Sept. crash when she drove the wrong direction along Interstate 275.
David L. Beiswanger, 32, says Jennifer L. Carter operated her vehicle negligently ... causing it to collide with the vehicle he was driving.
The suit seeks at least $25,000 in damages.
Authorities have said that about 8 p.m. on Sept. 8, Ms. Carter drove southbound in the northbound lanes of I-275.
They said her car was going as fast as 100 mph.
Ms. Carter drove 12 miles in the wrong direction before her car collided head-on with Mr. Beiswanger's vehicle near Ohio 125, officials said.
Debris from the collision struck several other vehicles.
Ms. Carter, 21, has been charged with aggravated vehicular assault, reckless assault and failure to wear a seat belt.
Neither Mr. Beiswanger nor Ms. Carter suffered life-threatening injuries. Ms. Carter could not be reached for comment.
Why she drove the wrong way remains unexplained.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers have said alcohol was not a factor.
Mr. Beiswanger's attorney, Michael Gehrig, seeks to have a deposition taken of Ms. Carter on Oct. 30.
We filed the suit immediately because we really want to get to the bottom of this and find out what happened, Mr. Gehrig said Tuesday.
Mr. Beiswanger, an investment adviser, is out of the hospital and being cared for by relatives.
He has some serious injuries a pelvic fracture, leg fractures, a rod in his leg he's lucky to be alive, Mr. Gehrig said.
As many as seven cars may have been involved, Mr. Gehrig said, adding, But we're not sure until we get the crash report from the state. It has not been released yet.
