City may get '06 skating nationals
Cincinnati one of 4 finalists
Cincinnati and Cleveland are two of the four finalists to hold the 2006 United States figure skating championships. The host city is expected to be announced by Nov. 2.
Tuesday, the selection committee toured Cincinnati, which hosted the world championships in 1987 and the U.S. championships in 1977.
It is a first-rate destination, said Julie Harrison Calvert of the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau. We have a wonderful history and a proven track record of being able to hold world-class events.
Cleveland hosted the 2000 championships.
St. Louis and Minnesota are the other finalists.
