No further discipline planned for priest
By The Associated Press
LEXINGTON The Diocese of Lexington will take no further disciplinary action against a London priest who was arrested in 1998 on indecent-exposure charges.
The diocese announced Friday that a review panel concluded it appropriately handled the Rev. Charles Howell's arrest.
Spokesman Thomas F. Shaughnessy said Father Howell informed then-Bishop J. Kendrick Williams of the arrest the next day. Bishop Williams directed Father Howell to seek counseling and placed him on probation.
Father Howell was associate at Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington at the time. He is now pastor of St. William parish in London.
Father Howell pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct and was fined $100 and given two years' probation
