MONTGOMERY Police are searching for two armed men who held up the Bank One at 8201 Weller Road about 10 a.m. Thursday. No one was injured, and the robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
After the heist, the men drove off in a Chevrolet Suburban. Police found the car abandoned a short distance away in the backyard of a home on Woodgate Lane, which backs up to a wooded area along Interstate 275, Montgomery Police Lt. Jerry Beitman said.
The east lanes of I-275 near Montgomery Road were closed for about 10 minutes while officers armed with rifles searched for the men. A police canine picked up a scent but lost it.
Officers from several agencies continued to search the area until shortly before noon.
Both robbers had semiautomatic pistols. One was described as a dark-complexioned black man, about 5-foot-8 and of medium build. He was wearing a navy ski mask, gray sweatshirt, baggy blue jeans and Nike silver gym shoes with scaly print. The other was described as a man of unknown race, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2, with a medium build. He was wearing a black ski mask, gray or black sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Montgomery police at 985-1600 or 825-2280.
