Goodall to visit homeless shelter
Jane Goodall, considered one of the most influential scientists of the 20th Century for her study of chimpanzees, will visit the Tender Mercies Inc. homeless shelter in Over-the-Rhine Wednesday and then speak later in the day at Xavier University.
Tender Mercies, 27 W. 12th St., provides housing and supportive services to homeless people with histories of chronic mental illness.
Dr. Goodall's visit to Tender Mercies highlights a new collaborative effort between the agency and Dignity U Wear, a nonprofit organization that provides donated new clothing from manufacturers and retailers to charitable groups. Dr. Goodall is a member of Dignity U Wear's advisory board.
Dr. Goodall also comes to Cincinnati for Saturday's opening of the Cincinnati Museum Center's exhibit and Imax film, Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees.
She will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Xavier University as a benefit for the Cincinnati Zoo and the museum center.
