Suspect charged in mail bombing
Device damaged a carrier's vehicle
By The Associated Press
CYNTHIANA , Ky. - Authorities have arrested and charged a Cynthiana man with bombing a mail-delivery vehicle in Harrison County.
George Krushinski, 40, was arrested after a search of his home on Friday, said Sheriff Bruce Hampton.
Sheriff Hampton said Mr. Krushinski was charged in connection with the Nov. 18, 2001, bombing.
No one was injured by the bomb that was planted under the sport-utility vehicle used to deliver for the U.S. Postal Service.
The vehicle was privately owned, but it had a U.S. Mail decal on its door.
The explosion caused slight damage to that vehicle, another vehicle parked nearby and a barn.
Although this case did not result in injuries or death, this cannot diminish the deadly potential, said Carl Vasilko, an investigator for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Lexington. ... Pipe bombs are designed for one purpose, to kill anyone in close proximity to the devices when they detonate.
Sheriff Hampton said Mr. Krushinski also was charged in connected with an unexploded pipe bomb found in a Cynthiana mailbox on Sept. 3.
