Cyclones drop opener

Enquirer news services

Greg Hewitt stopped 23 shots and Mike Henderson scored for the Cincinnati Cyclones, but it wasn't enough as the Cyclones dropped their home opener to the Peoria Rivermen 2-1 in U.S. Bank Arena.

Mike Henderson took a wrist shot from the top of the left circle over Alfie Michaud's shoulder as the Cyclones tied the game, 1-1.

"It was a hard-fought contest," coach Malcolm Cameron said. "Peoria got the extra breaks."

The Cyclones travel to Wheeling to play the Nailers at 6 p.m. today.
