CHICAGO - Jocelyn Thibault made 26 saves for his 28th career shutout as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-0 on Sunday night for their first victory of the season.
Jon Klemm, Tyler Arnason and Alex Zhamnov scored goals to help the Blackhawks rebound from a season-opening 2-1 loss at Columbus on Friday night. The Sabres were shut out after scoring 11 goals in opening victories over the New York Islanders and Montreal.
Red Wings 4, Mighty Ducks 2 ANAHEIM, Calif. - Brendan Shanahan scored two goals as Detroit spoiled Anaheim's home opener.
Shanahan's second goal, which gave Detroit a 3-0 lead in the second period, came during a delayed penalty as Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere skated toward the bench.
Anaheim's Adam Oates tried to pass from behind the Detroit goal line, but the puck deflected off Shanahan's leg and slid 190 feet into the empty net.
Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg also scored for Detroit. Paul Kariya and Ruslan Salei scored for Anaheim.
