The Insatiable Shopper
Scouting the marketplace with Joy Kraft
Jack-o'-lantern: Turn a lamp into a smiley-face spook with this pumpkin made of a coated fabric stretched over a wire frame and fitted with a screw-in fixture. Two designs at M. Hopple & Co., downtown, 579-9458 and 7565 Kenwood Road, 791-6426.
Bitty 'brella: When fall rains down, it's good to have an umbrella tucked away, but size has always been a problem, even with collapsible models. Now, totes has put an umbrella through the shrinking machine to produce 'brella, that stores away to 6 inches and weighs a scant 6 ounces. In black, navy, camel, crimson, wine and hunter. $22 at department stores.
Sock sorter: It's a known fact that washers and dryers subsist on socks - not electricity - especially those from the tiniest toes that get lost, then languish for weeks on top of the dryer waiting for mates. Sockpro Sock Holders are slotted plastic rings that slip over the toes or cuffs of socks, keeping them linked through the cleaning cycle. They work best on babies,' toddlers' and children's socks. We found adults socks a bit bulky. $3.95 for 10-pack at Organized Living stores. Great shower gift.
