NKU volleyball player ranks No. 1

Northern Kentucky University volleyball player Sara Taylor is No.1 nationally in assists (13.83 per game) in the NCAA Division II rankings released Wednesday.

Taylor, a 5-foot-8 junior setter, collected 223 assists last week in five NKU victories to vault from No.2 to the top spot. It marks the first time a Norse volleyball player has been ranked No.1 in assists. NKU alum Kerry Lewin led Division II in aces in 1994 and '95 and is the NCAA career leader (533), and Jenny Jeremiah briefly led the nation in digs in 1999.

Taylor now ranks No. 5 in NKU history with 2,418 career assists.
