College Update
Xavier freshman outside hitter Meggie Hoffman was named Atlantic 10 volleyball rookie of the week for the sixth time this season after tallying her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season.
Nick Spurlock, a freshman soccer player at Transylvania, was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's player of the week. The Princeton grad, scored two goals in two Pioneer wins.
College of Mount St. Joseph freshman wide receiver Andy Wellendorf recorded four touchdown receptions in the Lions' 37-35 win over Bluffton last week. The Elder grad tied an MSJ record with the four TD receptions and was named HCAC offensive player of the week.
Miami freshman defenseman Matt Davis was named Central Collegiate Hockey Association rookie of the week after recording four points in the RedHawks' sweep of Northern Michigan.
Ohio Northern defensive back Russell Midlam, a Western Brown grad, had four punt returns for 106 yards and a 54-yard return for a touchdown last week. He was selected the Ohio Athletic Conference special teams player of the week.
Northern Kentucky volleyball player Kristin Koralewski was named Great Lakes Valley Conference player of the week after tallying 55 kills and 52 digs in five wins.
Lakota East graduate Casie Garland, a sophomore at Morehead State, was named Ohio Valley Conference volleyball player of the week after averaging 13.75 assists in three wins.
Soccer player Brandy Dewar, a Norwood graduate and senior at Shawnee Sate, scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 victory over Anderson last week.
MSJ freshman soccer player Erin Fox, an East Central graduate, tallied three goals in her first start, a 6-0 win over Bluffton.
