Consequences of Under 21 Drinking and Driving in Ohio
Law enforcement officers can file charges against any driver under 21 who has a blood alcohol concentrationof .02 percent or more. If convicted of operating a motor vehicle after underage consumption:
You can face a 60-day and not more than two-year license suspension.
The courts may commit you to as many as three days in a certified alcohol and drug addiction program.
Four points will be assessed to your driving record.
A remedial driving course must be completed before your drivers license will be reissued.
Using a Fake I.D. to Buy Alcohol
A person under the age of 21 who presents a false, fictitious or fake I.D. or driver's license when purchasing beer or liquor shall receive the following penalties:
First offense: Mandatory fine of $250-$1,000 and jail time up to six months.
Second offense: Mandatory fine of $500-$1,000 and jail time up to six months and possible license suspension for up to 60 days.
Third and subsequent offenses: Mandatory fine of $500-$1,000 and jail time up to six months, 90 day license suspension with an option of community service and a license suspension until age 21.
Consequences of Possession of Marijuana
If you possess less than 100 grams of marijuana, it is a minor misdemeanor. Punishment is a maximum fine of $100.
Consequences of Possession of Ecstasy
Third-degree misdemeanor. Punishment is a maximum fine of $500. If defendant has a prior conviction, possession of ecstasy is a second-degree misdemeanor. Punishment is a maximum sentence of 90 days and maximum fine of $750.
