Weanling colt tops Keeneland session at $320,000

The Associated Press

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A weanling colt from the first crop of Yankee Victor brought a top price of $320,000 during Friday's session of Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale.

Athens Woods LLC bought the dark bay or brown colt out of stakes-placed Far Away Kisses, by Farma Way. Bluewater Sales LLC, as agent, sold the half brother to Canadian stakes winner Secret Lover.

Yankee Victor, a son of Saint Ballado, won the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap and earned $833,806 during his racing career.

Warren's Whistle, a 4-year-old daughter of Wolf Power, brought $285,000, the second-highest price of the session. William A. Carl bought the stakes winner of $527,558 from Mineola Farm, as agent.

Warren's Whistle is out of Velveteen, by Pirateer. She was sold as a racing or broodmare prospect.

During Friday's session, Keeneland sold 270 horses for $11,997,500, an average of $44,435 and a median of $32,000. Through five days of the 10-day auction, 1,136 horses have been sold for $162,934,200, an average of $143,428 and a median of $61,000.
