Communities will honor veterans of the armed services with a variety of programs today:

HAMILTON COUNTY

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 10, Cincinnati, will hold its annual memorial service 11 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Eden Park.

The 48th Annual Veterans Day Program will take place 11 a.m. at the Main Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, 800 Vine St., downtown. The featured speaker is World War II veteran Thomas Griffin, who will discuss Freedom Is Not Free: The Doolittle Tokyo Raiders. Mr. Griffin will discuss the secret planned attack against major Japanese cities.

BLUE ASH - Memorial ceremonies will take place beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Blue Ash Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park, at the corner of Hunt and Cooper roads. The emcee will be WXIX-TV Channel 19 news anchor Jack Atherton, and the keynote speaker will be Barbara Kugler-Rounds, a retired Army Nurse Corps colonel who served in Vietnam and is a member of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2000. Students from Edwin H. Greene Intermediate School's Accelerated Language Lab will place wreaths on the statues and the granite nonagon. They will also present their writings in honor of the holiday.

GREEN TOWNSHIP - The Veterans Day Committee and the Green Township trustees will honor members of the Armed Forces at Veterans' Park, 6231 Harrison Ave. The M-60A3 Army Tank will be open for tours beginning at 9:30 a.m., and the parade around the walking path will begin at 11 a.m. The memorial ceremony, including the presentation of a new flag and awarding of the Junior ROTC scholarship, will follow at Patriotic Plaza. The keynote speaker will be Common Pleas Judge Patrick Dinkelacker.

MOUNT WASHINGTON - American Legion Post 484 will present a memorial ceremony at 7 p.m. at the Legion monument, on Corbly near Beechmont Avenue. The keynote speaker will be Rep. Tom Brinkman, R-Cincinnati.

CLERMONT COUNTY

BATAVIA - The Clermont County Veterans' Service Commission and the Clermont County Council of the American Legion will host a veterans parade that will assemble at 6:30 p.m. and begin at 7:30 p.m. at the west end of Main Street. Those interested in participating should contact the Veterans' Service office at 732-7363.

MILFORD - Students at Milford Main Middle School, Main and Lila avenues, will perform a Veterans' Day tribute program at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The public is welcome.

NEW RICHMOND - Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial on Susanna Way.

BUTLER COUNTY

FAIRFIELD - A veterans ceremony will take place 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, next to the Parks and Recreation Office, 701 Wessel Drive. Don Cotton, past Commander of VFW Post 1069, will serve as master of ceremonies. Three color guards will be present. Refreshments will be served.

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - A flag-raising ceremony with the U.S. Marine Color Guard will take place 10 a.m. at Woodland Elementary School, 6923 Dutchland Parkway. A program following in the gymnasium will feature guest speaker Col. Richard McKinney, U.S. Army. The program will feature skits and songs accompanied by the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Brass Quartet. The public is welcome.
