Ambulance, car collide at intersection
Cincinnati police traffic specialists are investigating a Friday accident in Avondale that involved a city ambulance.
The ambulance, with its lights and sirens running, and a Cadillac collided at noon at Oak Street and Reading Road . Firefighter Phillip Worsham, 31, was driving southbound on Reading when he failed to yield to traffic, said Sgt. Bill Coombs.
Mr. Worsham was not hurt, nor was the firefighter in the back, Lynn Love, 44, who was tending to a patient. The Cadillac driver, George William Hill, 63, of Fort Wright, was treated at University Hospital and released.
The patient, Raeshondra Smith, 24, of Winton Terrace, did not complain of any injuries as a result of the accident, Sgt. Coombs said. She was taken to Christ Hospital for evaluation.
CSX worker dies in rail yard accident
A 29-year CSX employee was killed Friday morning in an accident in the Queensgate rail yard.
Gary Oak, 51, of Carrollton, Ky., was driving a pickup truck on the tracks when the vehicle was hit by an automated train about 5:25 a.m. Mr. Oak and the truck were dragged 300 yards.
His body was found under the truck.
The accident is being investigated by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the Federal Railroad Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Indictment made in murder, assault
A Hamilton County grand jury has indicted an 18-year-old Corryville man on charges that he killed a man while trying to rob him.
Kenknobie Williams was indicted Friday on charges of aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault. He faces seven charges and if convicted could face life in prison.
Officials say that on Oct. 21, Mr. Williams shot and killed Donte Booker in the 1200 block of Linn Street.
Mr. Williams is also accused of assault for allegedly shooting Joshua Erkins in the chest in July in the 1500 block of Pleasant Street.
He is jailed in lieu of $300,000 bond.
Woman dies of injuries from crash
FAIRFIELD TWP. - An autopsy has determined that the death of a 64-year-old township woman 10 days after she crashed her car was the result of injuries suffered in the auto accident.
Pearl Kilburn died Oct. 27. She was transported by helicopter to University Hospital shortly after 8 a.m. Oct. 17 after her 1998 Toyota Camry struck a guardrail on Ohio 4 and Fairham Road.
The car veered across the median and onto the Walden Ponds Golf Course, where it overturned , township Chief Richard St. John said.
Man accused of sex with young girl
FAIRFIELD TWP. - A 32-year-old Forest Park man was out on bond after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Sang H. Jang, of Norbourne Drive, was arraigned Wednesday in Butler County Area II Court on six charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He could be sent to prison for up to 30 years if convicted on the felony charges.
Free after paying 10 percent of a $5,000 bond, Mr. Jang was ordered to surrender his passport and banned from any contact with the victim. He is due back in court Dec. 4 for a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to refer the case to a grand jury.
Township police Chief Richard St. John said Mr. Jang is accused of initiating the relationship with the girl in September. The alleged encounters occurred in the township and outside Butler County.
Police began investigating recently after receiving a complaint from a township resident, he said.
Job fairs today and next week
People looking for work - and employers looking for help - may find it at two job fairs.
The Urban League of Greater Cincinnati will host a job fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today at its headquarters, 3458 Reading Road, Avondale. It is sponsored in part by XLC Personnel Services, Cincinnati Financial Services, Cinergy, State Farm, Job News, Fifth Third Bank and Clear Channel.
The state will conduct a workshop at the fair on "How to Apply for State of Ohio Jobs."
On Nov. 23, the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency will hold a job fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at its office, 1501 Madison Road, 4th floor, East Walnut Hills. Available positions include administrative assistant, teachers, teachers' assistants, bus drivers and monitors, family service workers and a home weatherization technician. Job seekers should bring a resume.

NAACP officers, board elected
The Cincinnati branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People announced this week the election of new officers and executive board members for 2003-2005.
New officers are: Ishton Morton, first vice president; Herbert Walker, second vice president; Edith Thrower, third vice president; Charles Harris, treasurer; Betty Bryant, secretary; Deborah Wathel, assistant secretary.
New executive board members are: Juanita M. Adams, Maurice Adams, Rev. James Cantrell, Rev. Eugene Godhigh, Charles H. Ross, Willa M. Shelby, Victoria W. Holloway, Karla Irvine, Beverly Morton, Robert Richardson Sr., Wilbur Jones, Neze Tate and Jim Jones.
