Mount Saint Joseph vs. Thomas More

Thomas More has dominated this Bridge Bowl Trophy rivalry, outscoring Mount St.Joseph 247-108. The series, which began in 1990, was suspended because of bad blood between the coaching staffs of both schools following the 1995 game.

Mount St.Joseph will be out for its first winning season. The Lions' previous-best record is 5-5 in '96 and '97.

Mount St.Joseph runs a spread offense. Quarterback Mike Dane has completed 124 of 247 passes for a single-season-record 1,505 yards and 20 TDs. The Lions' leading receiver is Andy Wellendorf, who has 25 receptions for 448 yards and a single-season-record 11 TDs. Ricky Story has rushed for 986 yards.

Thomas More's offense averages 25 points and 293 yards a game, presenting a challenge for MSJ's 4-3 defense.

Injury-plagued Saints running back Justin Frisk (Highlands) has averaged 131 yards in five games. with quarterback Scott Garver completing 119 of 229 passes for 1,487 and 15 TD's. If Frisk isn't able to perform, freshmen Aaron McQueen (Lakota) and Tyran Thompson (Indianapolis, In.) will play.

Thomas More's defense has been a strength late in the season, not allowing a touchdown during the past 10 quarters.
