Hershey's two early goals hold up against Mighty Ducks

AHL clubs split weekend series at the Gardens

The Enquirer and wire reports

Steve Moore and Brian Willsie scored first-period goals and Phil Sauve stopped 21 shots to lead the Hershey Bears to a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks Saturday night in the AHL at the Gardens.

Sauve earned his seventh win of the season for the Bears, who have won three of their last four games. Cail MacLean, Mark Freer and Sergei Klyazmin each registered assists, as Hershey improved to 4-1-0-0 in its last five against Cincinnati.

Tony Martensson had the lone goal for the Ducks, who had a two-game home win streak snapped and fell to 2-3-2-0 in their last six.

Goaltender Ilja Bryzgalov, assigned earlier in the day by Anaheim, kept Cincinnati in the game with 27 saves on 29 shots.

The Bears went 1-for-7 on the power play, while Cincinnati finished 0-for-3.

The Ducks play the final of a three-game homestand at 4:05 p.m. today against Grand Rapids.
