Ursuline Academy senior recognized
Ursuline Academy senior Whitney Myers, of Oxford, has been named to the USA Swimming Scholastic All America Team, recognizing her success in both the swimming pool and the classroom.
By winning a national championship event at Senior Nationals and maintaining a 4.0 grade point average for the year, she was awarded a perfect score of 250 points, a distinction only two other women swimmers in the country achieved.
Student inducted
Abbey Stansel, a sophomore communications major at Miami University, has been inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, which recognizes undergraduates who excel academically.
Sheis the daughter of Carol and Rob Stansel of Loveland.
Bar scholarships
The following students have received scholarships from the Clermont County Bar Association Scholarship Fund:
Jennifer Beckelheimer, a New Richmond High School graduate attending the University of Cincinnati; Shawn Kuhn, a Summit Country Day School graduate attending Lafayette College, Easton, Pa.; Brad Mollman, a Batavia High School graduate attending Ohio Northern University, Ada; Chessy Seebohm, an Amelia High School graduate studying communication disorders at Ohio University; and Kristie Warzala, a Mount Notre Dame resident attending Miami University.
Kung Fu champs
Kung Fu and Tai Chi instructor April Nordman, of Delhi Township, won first place in the full contact International Kuoshu (Kung Fu) tournament in Baltimore. She also received the Female Full-Contact Competitor of the Year Award.
Students of the Western Hills Kung Fu Center also won medals. Julian Akins, of Westwood, placed first in two person forms (advanced), and third in fighting; Michael Roth, of Colerain Township, placed first in fighting, first in two person forms (advanced), and third in weapons; Huey Do, of Westwood, won first in forms (advanced); Kim Muir, of Westwood, won first in weapons; Tiffany Johnson, of Colerain Township, was first in fighting and third in weapons; David Napier, of Millville, placed third in fighting; and Demonte Peters, of Roselawn, placed third in forms.
