Pam Broughtonof Amelia, a Red Cross wild land firefighter, has received a grant to enhance the Greater Cincinnati area's preparedness for a possible terrorist attack.
Ms. Broughton will work with law enforcement agencies, emergency response agencies and fire departments.
Her efforts as an AmeriCorps volunteer in the Red Cross Community Preparedness Corps Program (CPC)will focus on disaster preparedness, CPR training, community emergency response teams and neighborhood watch programs.
The grant under the Homeland Security Act is administered through the Corporation for National and Community Services, parent company of AmeriCorps.
Ms. Broughton, a graduate of Glen Este High School and Wittenberg University, has already begun her 11-month assignment.
The Red Cross is looking for a second CPC volunteer. A living stipend, medical insurance and an educational award are part of the grant. For more information call 579-3910.
