OXFORD - A month-long undercover police investigation into a fraternity on Miami University's campus has resulted in the arrest of two students on drug charges.
Jay Kanterman, 19, and Nathan Anderson, 20, were arrested Monday night at the Acacia Fraternity House on South Campus Avenue by Butler County sheriff's deputies and the Oxford police.
Two undercover agents had infiltrated the fraternity and purchased drugs there, the sheriff's department said. Investigators seized 1‡ pounds of high-grade marijuana with a street value of $4,500, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, digital scales and $460 cash.
Mr. Kanterman was charged with three counts of trafficking in marijuana, possession of drugs, permitting drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Anderson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
The Acacia Fraternity chapter at Miami is under the jurisdiction of the Acacia International Fraternity in Indianapolis.
"If the allegations are true, I'm extremely disappointed," said Darold Larson, executive director of the Acacia International Fraternity. "We will look into this situation and determine what action is to be taken against the two individuals."
