Bucks top Globetrotters
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Brent Darby had 25 points and 11 assists to lead Ohio State to a 106-82 victory over the Harlem Globetrotters in an exhibition game Friday night.
Sean Connolly made 4-of-9 3-pointers and added 16 points for the Buckeyes, who lost point guard Brandon Fuss-Cheatham in the first half to a hyperextended left knee.
Fuss-Cheatham was on crutches when he returned to the bench in the second half. His status has not been determined for the season opener Monday night at home against Coppin State.
"They don't think it's anything structural," Buckeyes coach Jim O'Brien said. "We'll keep our fingers crossed and hope it's nothing real serious."
With their regulars on the floor, the Buckeyes had little trouble with the Globetrotters in the first half, building a 52-25 lead at the break behind 12 points from Darby and Terence Dials.
Darby had four points, two steals and two assists in a 17-0 run that gave Ohio State an early 22-4 lead. He finished 6-of-7 from the floor - hitting both of his 3-point attempts - and made 11-of-11 at the foul line.
Chudney Gray led the Globetrotters with 28 points. Monty Buckley added 12, Tony Akins had 11 and Olden Polynice 10 for Harlem.
Dials hit all six of his field goals and both of his free throws for 14 points. He was one of three Ohio State reserves in double figures. Emonte Jernigan added 11 points and Matt Sylvester had 10 for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State hit 54 percent of its shots from the field and made 21-of-24 at the line.
