Nurse promoted
Bonita Groh was promoted to lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve. She has been a nurse in the reserve for more than 19 years, and is on mobilization orders in St. Louis in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
A graduate of McAuley High School, Raymond Walters College and Xavier University, she is daughter of Marion and Allen Groh of Mount Healthy.
Eagle awards
The following have earned the Eagle Scout Award, the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America:
Joshua Bremer of Troop 803 in the Brecon area. For his community service project, he enlarged the area and built and repaired tables and a landing area under the swings of the playground at Brecon United Methodist Church. He is son of Janet and Wayne Bremer of Sharonville.
Allen Hughes of Troop 299 in Blue Ash. For his Eagle service project, he and his team repaired old, and built new, bleachers at Ss. Peter & Paul School in Reading. He is son of Kelly and G. Allen Hughes of Reading.
John Young of Troop 89 in Deer Park. He and his workers built picnic tables and horseshoe courts at the Sycamore Senior Center for his community service project. He is son of Grant Young of Dillonvale.
Timothy Wilkinson of Troop 299 in Blue Ash. For his service project, he and his team landscaped an acre at the Blue Ash Golf Course. He is son of Jean and Thomas Wilkinson of Reading.
AP Scholars
Students from Kings High School have been named AP Scholars by the College Board, based on their performance on national college-level advanced-placement exams.
Most of the nation's colleges and universities award credit, advanced placement or both for grades of 3 or higher on a 5-point scale.
Taylor Starnes, Eugene Duke, Phil Ellis, Kane Kayser, Christina King, Dave Kristof, Steven Main, Craig Noble, Laura Steele and Alex Wessel qualified by completing three or more exams with grades of 3 or higher.
