UC Medical Center names interim provost
Dr. Thomas Boat, director of the Children's Hospital Research Foundation, has been named interim Provost for Health Affairs at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Dr. Boat will temporarily replace Dr. Donald Harrison who announced this year that he would step down Jan. 1 from his long-held post as Senior Vice President and Provost for Health Affairs.
Dr. Boat plans to devote about 30 percent of his time to the provost position, which was only a part of Dr. Harrison's job. Dr. Boat joined Children's Hospital in 1993, where research grants have grown from less than $20 million a decade ago to more than $90 million this year.
