WEST CHESTER TWP. - The far-right lane on Interstate 75 will be shut down for eight miles between Tylersville and Kemper roads nightly until year's end so that extra asphalt can be laid.
Two more feet of asphalt on the outer edges of the slow lanes between West Chester Township and Sharonville are needed for the coming widening of the highway, Ohio Department of Transportation officials announced Monday.
Work began Monday on the northbound far-right lane, which will be closed 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Southbound work will begin after the north lane is complete, said Dick Dole, an ODOT project manager.
"We want to get this wrapped up by the end of the year," Mr. Dole said. "It might not even last that long. The one good thing about this is it's all night work."
ODOT recently announced plans to widen the Sharonville-West Chester stretch of the interstate from six to eight lanes. The $31 million project will begin in March, with scheduled completion in summer 2005.
