My Charmer Stakes today at Turfway
The Enquirer and wire reports
Trainer Vickie Foley has had a frustrating season with Gal On The Go but is hopeful that will change when the 4-year-old filly starts against 11 other fillies and mares in today's $50,000 My Charmer Stakes. Gal On The Go, winner of Turfway's Valdale Stakes as a 3-year-old, has yet to win this year but has four seconds and two thirds in 10 starts, including a third in the $150,000 Chou Croute Handicap at Fair Grounds last spring and a second in the $100,000 HBPA Handicap at Ellis Park in July.
Jockey James Lopez will ride Gal On The Go, who is the 4-to-1 third choice.
Bernie Flint-trained Freefourracing, the 3-to-1 morning line favorite, was scratched from last week's Holiday Inaugural to win in the My Charmer. Freefourracing has a 4-2-2 record in 10 starts at Turfway.
BREEDERS' CUP CASE: Derrick Davis, 29, of Baltimore, the man who nearly collected $3 million on a Pix Six bet from the Breeders' Cup admitted in federal court that the wager was rigged. Davis pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy. He renounced any claim to the money. Sentencing was set for March 11.
