New pilot
Sam Pool, of Withamsville, earned a commercial pilot's certificate by passing an oral and flight exam with a Federal Aviation Administration flight examiner. He now can carry passengers and cargo for hire, in both favorable and poor weather conditions.
He completed his flight training at Eastern Cincinnati Aviation at the Clermont County Airport.
Scholarship won
Jenna Lewis, a senior accounting major at the Kelley School of Business of Indiana University, Bloomington, is the recipient of a Ford Motor Company Scholarship for academic excellence and leadership.
The Ursuline Academy graduate is the daughter of Kathy and Bob Lewis of West Chester Township.
AP scholars
Students from St. Xavier High School have been named AP Scholars by the College Board, based on college-level advanced-placement exams.
Andrew Benedetti, Stephen Bird, Michael Burch, Nathan Denning, John Duffner, Stephen Hernick, Brian Lierl, Brian McCall, Marc Mergy, Christoffer Molnar, Clayton Morris, Jeremy Mosher, Matthew Riffe, Lucas Rogers, Stephen Schnelle, Andrew Schwieter, Shane Stephenson, Christopher Wait, Kevin Walsh and Micah Zeller qualified as AP Scholars with Distinction by earning an average of at least 3.5 of 5, and 3 or higher on five or more exams.
