TIFFIN, Ohio - F. Dominic Dottavio, dean and director of Ohio State University's campus in Marion, has been chosen as the 13th president of Heidelberg College, the school said Saturday.
During his nine years at OSU-Marion, Mr. Dottavio is credited with increasing enrollment and the amount of financial aid along with increasing the number of degree programs.
From 1986 to 1993, he was the chief scientist for the southeast region of the National Park Service.
Heidelberg's board of trustees hired Mr. Dottavio on Dec. 7, but his appointment was not announced until Saturday. Terms and length of the contract he signed with the school were not disclosed. Mr. Dottavio takes over on July 1. He will succeed Jim Getz, Heidelberg's interim president.
Tiffin is 40 miles southeast of Toledo.
