Education honor
Maryl Fletcher De Jong, professor of art at the University of Cincinnati Clermont College, is the recipient of the Sir Herbert Read Award, the highest honor bestowed in the field of art education. She is only the fourth person to receive this honor. The award was presented to Dr. De Jong, of Madisonville, by the International Society for Education through Art during their World Congress in New York City.
New car winner
Vicki Waizenhofer of Mason was the winner of Gardenburger Authentic Foods Company's "Eat, Click and Drive" contest. Gardenburger's vision is to promote pure food and a healthy environment.
Ms. Waizenhofer won a new lightweight, fuel-efficient Honda Civic Hybrid.
School technology
The Princeton High School Technology Department fared well in the student project competition at the Ohio State Fair. Of the 67 student projects displayed, they were presented with 10 first place awards; 10 second place; 11 third place; four fourth place; and two honorable mentions. Three Best of Show awards also were given to: James Byrd in the area of drafting; Anar Patel, in graphic communications; and Tina Patrick, in graphic arts.
