Medix of N.Y. to buy PocketScript

Medix Resources of New York has signed a definitive agreement to acquire PocketScript, the Mason technology company that emerged from bankruptcy in March.

The deal, subject to approval by Medix shareholders, calls for the issuance of 12 million Medix restricted shares to the owners of privately held PocketScript. At Medix's closing stock price of 76 cents Friday, the deal is valued at $9.1 million.

Medix will also issue up to $4 million more in stock if undisclosed business milestones are achieved.

PocketScript makes a prescription and patient-information hand communication device for doctor.

Givaudan to add Wis. flavor firm

Givaudan Flavors, the Swiss company whose North American operations are based in Bond Hill, has agreed to buy a small Wisconsin flavor maker for $21 million.

The acquisition of International Bioflavors Inc., in Oconomowoc, Wis., will bolster Givaudan's dairy, cheese and savory flavors business, the company said. International Bioflavors has annual sales of $11.5 million.

Cinergy gets OK to transfer plants

Indiana utility regulators have approved Cinergy Corp.'s plans to add two of its wholesale power generating plants to its PSI Energy system.

The gas-fired plants in Trenton in Butler County and in Henry County, Ind., have been generating power for sale on the wholesale market.
