Robert A. Cohan, an advertising executive, died Tuesday of complications from an accident in his Clifton home. He was 74. Mr. Cohan was a partner in the agency of his father, Eli Cohan, then served as vice president of Hogan, Nolan & Stites (now MacConnell Marketing Communications Inc.), retiring several years ago.
He was a "scholarly man with a very subtle sense of humor and an ironic disposition," said his friend, Edward Harris of Clifton. "He always provided excellent conversation and sharp insight on many topics."
David Reichert of Amberley Village, a friend of 70 years, described Mr. Cohan as a "very kind and gentle person with sort of a charming sense of humor."
Mr. Cohan served on the boards of Friends of CCM, Rockdale Temple and Camp Livingston, and the men's committee of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
He was a member of the Clifton Fountain Committee and worked for the city council campaigns of Willis Gradison Jr. and Helen Hinckley.
Mr. Cohan graduated from Walnut Hills High School and Ohio State University. He was a retired lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves, an accomplished pianist and a member of Rockdale Temple and Losantiville Country Club.
Survivors include Sandy Cornwell Cohan, his wife of 30 years; and a sister, Carol Cohan of Florida.
