BATON ROUGE, La. - Jaime Lloreda registered a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds as LSU stunned top-ranked Arizona 66-65 on Saturday night.

The Tigers' defense frustrated the Wildcats for much of the game and controlled the tempo until the final minutes. Arizona shot a season-low 33 percent.

"We won this game by rebounding and guarding," LSU coach John Brady said.

"I kept telling my team that they were going to make a run at us at some point and they did, but the toughness in the defensive effort of our team was really good."

LAS VEGAS -Stanford coach Mike Montgomery earned his 500th career win as the No. 17 Cardinal used a 20-6 run to break a second-half tie and defeat UNLV 77-66 at the Las Vegas Showdown on Saturday night.

Montgomery, who is in his 25th season and 17th at Stanford (7-3), now has a career record of 500-235.

Stanford held a 38-28 lead at halftime, but UNLV (6-2) opened the second half with a 13-5 run to tie the game at 43 with 14:35 left. Twenty-one seconds later, Justin Davis scored on a 3-point play to start the deciding run.

Davis finished 21 points and 16 rebounds, both career highs. Josh Childress also had 21 points and added 11 rebounds.

Syracuse 92, Georgia Tech 65

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Gerry McNamara scored 25 points and Carmelo Anthony added 24 as Syracuse hit Georgia Tech with a barrage of 10 3-pointers in the first half and beat the Yellow Jackets 92-65 on Saturday.

It was the sixth straight victory for Syracuse (6-1) and easily its most impressive. The only losses the Yellow Jackets (5-3) had suffered had each been by one point.

Anthony also had 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. McNamara, who hit five 3s, also had a season-high 10 assists, Kueth Duany had 16 points, and Hakim Warrick 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Orangemen.

B.J. Elder led Georgia Tech with 14 points, Chris Bosh had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Luke Schenscher had a season-high 10 points.
