On the Fridge

What's going on around the home

By Shauna Scott Rhone

Hot Stuff

Wake up and win: This is one of the funniest contests we've come across in a while. The makers of Breathe Right nasal strips are looking for the country's loudest snorer. To enter the contest, you can call (866) YOU-SNORE (968-7667) and leave a sample of said snorer's stylings; describe what the roar sounds like (with an audio clip) via e-mail at yousnore@breatheright.com; or mail a recording and description to Breathe Right's "Search for America's Loudest Snorer," c/o L. Hawkins, Weber Shandwick, 676 N. St. Clair, Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611. Entrant must live with the snorer. Grand-prize winner gets a $10,000 bedroom makeover and a trip for two to next month's Super Bowl, including round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations for two nights. The deadline is Tuesday; snail mail postmark deadline is Jan. 7.

And loving it: Singles who dread the experience of New Year's parties without a date may enjoy Living Alone & Loving It: A Guide to Relishing the Solo Life by 1960s TV icon Barbara Feldon (Simon & Schuster; $10). Ms. Feldon, who starred in Get Smart!, says the keys to living alone and loving it are connecting with others, developing creativity and living life with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Family Fun

Field trip: While the kids are out of school, take them "Inside Africa," the newest exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center. This national traveling exhibit, which runs daily through May 4, is organized into four sections: Families and Festivals, Safari, Caravan, and Diaspora. Each section includes exhibits, three-dimensional settings, multimedia presentations and artifacts from some of the continent's 56 countries. Families and Festivals gives a contemporary cityscape of life in Dakar, Senegal, and an orientation gallery with basic facts about Africa's countries. The Safari section features interactive video displays on gorilla research. Caravan depicts the everyday life of modern Tuareg merchants who travel across the Sahara desert. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Call 287-7000 or (800) 733-2077.
