Get to It

A guide to help make your day

Going out

Holiday Fest: Christmas may be past but the winter festival at the Beach waterpark lives on, with ice skating, carriage rides, seasonal treats and, of course, Jack Frost nipping at your nose. Continues 4-10 p.m. daily through Monday, 2-10 p.m. New Years Eve, Waterpark Drive, Mason, $4-$6.

398-7946.

Mary Marxen: The Florence Womens Club hosts the former nun and inspirational vocalist for her ever so popular "An Evening of Inspiration Through Prayer and Song." 7:30 p.m. today, Mother of God Church, Sixth and Russell streets, Covington, free. (859) 384-1356.

Jazz club: Jazzy vocalist Dixie Karas, keyboard player Steve Weingart (plays with drumming great Dave Weckl), drummer Brad Elliot and pals team up for a night of music. 9:30 p.m. today, Promontory, 1111 St. Gregory St., Mount Adams. 651-4777.

Staying in

Critic's pick: The Kennedy Center does it right: Honorees - the best in the American arts - get eloquent tributes and we see superb performances. Honorees are Elizabeth Taylor, James Levine, Paul Simon, Chita Rivera and James Earl Jones. Kennedy Center Honors, 9 p.m., Channels 12, 7.

What can you say except that it's, well, a classic, even though it's a repeat. M*A*S*H: 30th Anniversary Reunion,

8 p.m., Channel 19.

Web site

Wishing kids: The local chapter of Make-A-Wish, the charity that grants wishes of seriously ill children, has a spiffy new Web site. www.makeawishohio.org is full of information and tidbits, plus suggestions for giving - and a place where you can donate frequent flier points the group will use to grant wishes of the 70 percent of kids who want to travel.

Planning ahead

24 hours out: Jam band Ekoostik Hookah works its musical magic at

Bogart's, 8:30 p.m. Saturday, 2621 Vine St., Corryville, $15. 562-4949.

48 hours out: The Three Wise Men make their annual visit to the live nativity scene at Krohn Conservatory. 2 p.m. Sunday, Eden Park. 352-4080.
