Friday

- Kevin Garnett, Timberwolves, had 25 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for his third triple-double of the season as Minnesota beat Chicago 113-100.

- Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Hawks, had 27 points and 11 rebounds in Atlanta's 81-79 victory over San Antonio.

- Lucious Harris, Nets, scored 25 points in New Jersey's 110-90 victory over Milwaukee.

- Stephon Marbury, Suns, had 26 points in Phoenix's 108-95 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

- Eddie Jones, Heat, scored 28 points as Miami beat Boston 90-70.

NEW FEATHERS

Atlanta beat San Antonio 81-79 on Friday night in Terry Stotts' first game as an NBA head coach. Stotts took over for Lon Kruger, who was fired Thursday, and lead Atlanta to only its second win in its last eight games.

STREAKING

New Jersey beat Milwaukee 110-90 on Friday for its 12th straight home victory and fifth straight overall. ... Portland beat Utah 103-98 for its sixth straight win. ... Minnesota beat Chicago 113-110 for its 11th straight victory over the Bulls.

STRONG IN DEFEAT

Tracy McGrady scored 25 of his 35 points in the first half of Orlando's 99-86 loss to Memphis on Friday night. ... Tim Duncan had 27 points in San Antonio's 81-79 loss in Atlanta.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Memphis is 7-7 in December following its 99-86 win over Orlando on Friday night.
