IU's Davis must miss one game for tirade
Hoosiers coach benched tonight

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana coach Mike Davis was suspended for one game Monday for his on-court outburst during a loss to Kentucky on Dec.21.
The Big Ten Conference accepted Indiana's recommendation for punishment. The conference also publicly reprimanded Davis and told him to write an apology to the officials.
The university recommended all three sanctions last week after it was notified by the Big Ten that Davis had violated a league rule. Davis faced up to a six-game suspension under Big Ten rules.
Davis will miss tonight's game when the Hoosiers (8-2) visit Ball State. Assistant coach John Treloar will replace him.
"There is no reason for me to act the way I acted," Davis said. "I am really embarrassed by it, but that is part of life and part of competition, and that happens in sports."
Terry Clapacs, Indiana's interim athletic director, said he was "relieved" the Big Ten office didn't seek the maximum penalty.
