Ky. Army reserve unit called to duty
The Associated Press
LOUISVILLE - Members of a U.S. Army reserve unit were called to active duty Thursday as part of a mobilization authorized by President Bush.
About 30 soldiers from Detachment 3 of the 678th Personnel Services Battalion were mobilized in support of Operation Noble Eagle, an initiative to provide security at military installations in the United States, and Operation Enduring Freedom, the country's war on terrorism.
The group will manage personnel records for other army units, said Maj. Bill Nutter of the 81st Regional Support Command, which oversees Army reserves in eight Southeastern states.
The soldiers are scheduled to report to Fort Campbell for administrative and training requirements within a few days, Maj. Nutter said.
