Kids give $3,400 to Heart Association
TRENTON - The American Heart Association is $3,400 richer thanks to the efforts of students in Bloomfield Elementary School's motor skills classes.
During a two-week period, the students jumped rope a total of two hours, obtaining pledges for their efforts. Top jumpers were Zachary McGlosson, $231, and Kelsey Heitfield, $200, first grade; Mackenzie Keith, $158, kindergarten; Taylor Asher, $130 second grade; and Ashley Hoskins, $110, fourth grade.
In the past six years the students have raised more than $21,000.
Clothes sought
GREEN TOWNSHIP - Members of La Salle High School's wrestling team will be collecting gently used hats, coats, gloves and other clothing items through Monday.
Blue barrels have been placed outside the main office to receive donations. The clothing will be given to St. Margaret of York Church and the Drop Inn Center.
Mark Grome, a 1999 graduate, began the collection.
Jump rope team
MASON - The Kings Schools' Firecrackers Jump Rope Team will perform Monday at the rescheduled boys Mason Comets basketball game against Harrison. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. in the Mason Middle School arena.
Feed the Needy
OXFORD - The 15th annual Feed the Needy Slam Jam at Talawanda Middle School raised $766 and 526 canned food items for the poor in Oxford.
It was part of a two-month effort by middle school students that included raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, collecting coats and holiday gifts for children, a reception for veterans and a Thanksgiving feast for senior citizens.
Open house
INDIAN HILL - Cincinnati Country Day School, a private, college preparatory school, will host an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 12 at the school, 6905 Given Road.
