Enquirer news services
WinStar Farm's Honest Deceiver made a powerful move in the final strides to win Saturday's $50,000 Wishing Well Stakes for fillies and mare by a half-length over Timeless Love.
Colonial Glitter finished a head behind Timeless Love in third. Winning time was 1:10.93 for 6 furlongs over a fast track.
"We had a beautiful trip," rider Tony D'Amico said. "I kept her to the outside and she settled nicely. (Trainer) Elliott (Walden) just said not to rush her and to let her relax. Everything turned out perfectly."
Honest Deceiver, 4, improved her record to 4-4-4 in 18 starts with $149,658 earnings. She returned $8.60, $4.40 and $3.
Riel took a bad step and unseated jockey Kris Prather, who was uninjured and walked back to the jockey's room. Riel left by van.
