Austin to defend title Feb.15

Cincinnatian Tim Austin, the undefeated International Boxing Federation bantamweight champion, makes his 10th title defense against No.1 contender Rafael Marquez of Mexico on Feb.15 at Caesars Palace Pavilion in Las Vegas.

The Don King Productions promotion will be televised by Home Box Office and KingVision.

"Austin has wanted to unify the title, but he has chased the other champions out of the bantamweight division," King said.

Austin (25-0-1, 22 KOs), 31, is the 1992 Olympic bronze medalist. He turned professional on April 23, 1993, and won the IBF 118-pound title on July 19, 1997, in Nashville, Tenn., by stopping M'bulelo Botile. He scored an impressive 10-round TKO over Adan Vargas in his last bout, July 27 in Las Vegas.

Marquez (28-3, 26 KOs), 27, is the United States Boxing Association champion, beating former world champion Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson on Feb.23 in Las Vegas with an eight-round TKO. He also is the former WBA Latin American champ and stopped Jorge Otero in six rounds in his last fight on July12.
