Toledo 61, Miami 51

The Enquirer and wire reports

TOLEDO - Nick Moore scored 19 points to lead Toledo to a 61-51 victory over Miami on Tuesday.

Keith Triplett scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds for the Rockets (8-6, 2-2 Mid-American Conference).

Chet Mason, with 17 points, and Danny Horace, with 10, were the top scorers for the RedHawks (4-9, 2-2).

Two of Moore's three 3-pointers came during a 19-3 second-half run.

It began with a Triplett layup that put the Rockets ahead for good, 42-41 with 10:37 to play, and ended with Ricardo Thomas' three-point play at the 4:26 mark.

After a 7-0 Toledo run, Miami rallied to tie the score at 29 at halftime.

"I thought the turning point was when they went to zone," RedHawks coach Charlie Coles said. "We didn't do a good job of adjusting, and we ended up playing defense for the rest of the night.

"We've got to find a way to play a little more relaxed. Our guys are trying like crazy right now."

MIAMI WOMEN WIN IN OT: It took overtime and 29 points from senior guard Heather Cusick for Miami (7-7, 2-1 MAC) to defeat Ohio 80-78 in Athens.

The Bobcats fall to 4-10 overall and 0-3 MAC.
